I am Heidi - photographer, writer, explorer. I'm also mum to Belle and Ashton. We live in Adelaide, South Australia but explore the world as much as we can. Thanks for joining me on this fabulous journey. A journey where you will discover the fun and excitement of taking beautiful photos.

I'm a tourism focused photographer, with curiosity to kill. I love going behind the scenes, seeing what others can't, discovering new things and having fun. And I want to show what I find to the world. I love to dream, plan and escape - even when I physically can't. So why can't you? It keeps us going - til our next travel fix.

Photography is for everyone. And why can't you come home with pics that make you proud? I'm hoping I can change the 'it looked so much better than that; I'm not sure why it's blurry' to 'wow, that is awesome, I can imagine being there'.

My Photography Life

I loved taking photos as a child and did Photography as a subject at school until I moved to a different school that didn't offer it. That didn't stop me, though. While studying Craft in the final year, I decided to do photography as my project - and went back to my old school to develop the film and photos in their darkroom. The benefit of living in the country - you don't get lost and forgotten in numbers.

After High School, photography was never thought of as a career. I probably didn't think too much at all about a career. After stints as a child portrait photographer travelling through South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Northern Territory I decided to head overseas. I worked in hospitality and tourism, including pulling pints in London pubs. It was in one of those pubs that I became friends with a photographer and decided that is what I want to do.

On returning home to Australia, I had to make the choice between a travel agent job with Flight Centre or start my own photography business. Two loves of mine - travel and photography. Needless to say, I'm glad I went with the photography. Now I get paid to travel AND take photos.

I've worked as a Photographer since 1998 - in many different forms. I've worked with kids, animals, the elderly and everything in between. Moving and non-moving. Past photography gigs (before I started heidi who photos) have included -

Go with the flow when taking kids photos.
